Foundation LW’s thoughts about home learning…

Felix said 'pretty average'.

He misses you (Mrs Wenckowski), his little mates, learning together with his friends in the classroom, playing in the school yard, and just 'going to school'.

Juliano has really enjoyed his week of home learning using study ladder and story on line. He loved the Math's dice game, Italian and Reading and misses playing at recess with his school friends but most of all he misses his favourite Carlton supporter Mrs Wenckowski and Mrs Ange.

Jeevan misses Mrs. Wenckowski, Mrs. Watson & all the other teachers however. He likes doing his Maths at home with his Mummy /teacher /principal /chef /cleaner /site manager, Sandra. He misses his classroom, his friends & the playground. At home he loves going out at recess to jump on the trampoline, scooter, bike & his hammock and hanging off the clothesline balancing with Isabella on the other side!

Clara: My week was not too good, not too bad. I am now the queen of letters in Teach your Monster to read program. My mum made me a certificate for learning my Gold Oxford Words and presented it to me.

Elizabeth: It's great! I love learning at home. I like answering the questions and doing the activities in Jesus' book (To Know Workshop and Love).

Jackson has been very busy over the break and last week drawing and painting. It’s so great to see him sitting and enjoying his art activities. Here are some pictures for you! We hope you are well during this difficult time and can’t wait to get back to school!

Paddy: Home school is great because we finish at morning-tea time and then we get to do lots of LEGO with Dad.

Year 1/2 News

Welcome back to Term 2 Remote Learning.

We miss seeing all your smiley and happy faces. Even though things are very different it is great to see all the children learning in a variety of ways.

Thank you to all the parents and carers for taking this on with a positive attitude and keenness to support your children at home, it has been a big adjustment but we are all learning together.

We appreciate your feedback on how well the daily/weekly schedule is working and we aim to continue to improve this on a weekly basis.

Looking forward to continuing to learn together in this way!

Year 3/4 News

Welcome back to school. What an interesting time for us all. We appreciate your patience and support as we navigate our online platforms and experiences of teaching remotely; we know there are challenges for everyone. Obviously we are having some teething problems, however they are being addressed.

The 3/4s have transitioned well into Remote Learning and it has been great to hear of this through email messages and to receive photos of our students engaged in their learning at home. The students are all on board with Google Classroom and the term has started well with teachers contacting their class via Google Meet.

We hope your Easter break was a wonderful and joyous time for your families during this challenging time. Here are some of our Easter gardens that the students have uploaded onto Google Classroom.

Keep up the wonderful work you have been producing Year 3/4s. We are very proud of your effort, resilience and self-management!

My home learning is fun. It is fun because I like to learn and get to spend more time with my parents. Grace

The first couple of days of remote learning were a bit hard, but it has improved because I am more organised and familiar with what I need to do. I do miss my friends though. Connor

I find it great and I get ready by first reading to myself. I’m finding opening things up hard to do my work.  What I found interesting was learning new things and the video conference call. Eva

Remote learning is new to our school. St Fidelis is doing really well. At times it's been challenging, but we haven't given up. Personally, I think we have persuaded ourselves to do all their work, and smashed it! Keep it up!!!!! Xavier

Year 5/6 News

Year 5/6 Remote Learning Reflections.

Home learning was a struggle to stay on task and organised at first but now I am getting better at both those things. I am getting used to doing my work at home and now Home Learning is getting much easier. It is also a relief to know that I can email the teachers if I need any help or assistance with my work at anytime.   By Will

My first three days of online learning have been difficult for me, as it would have been for everybody at St. Fidelis Primary School. I have experienced many positives and some challenges. Some of the positives have been that I get to work at my own pace and my I.T. skills are improving each day through using a computer to do most of my work. Another benefit of learning from home is that I am able to see all of the work my parents do on a daily basis. However there have been some challenges that I have experienced and that I am sure many other students have as well, for example, not being able to see my classmates and teachers to ask them questions or speak to them. It is important that we all remain optimistic and I can’t wait to be able to and be able to go back to school. I wish everyone and their families well during these challenging times and remember, we are all in this together. By Anthony P

Remote learning has been a big change! I was nervous about how it would work and it feels a bit strange but I remind myself it's only for a short period of time. I know I will feel better with things over the coming weeks as I get used to it. Remote learning does allow me to create and work to my own timetable. Also, being in the comfort of my own home means I can wear my warm slippers 'to school'. I do miss personally interacting with the teachers and my friends. I also miss the other school activities like interschool sport, music, art, assemblies and buddy time. However, for now I am grateful and thankful for being able to continue my learning with the help and support of my teachers even if this has to be via remote learning. By Neela

Our current situation has meant that these past couple of weeks have been different to what we are used to. It's been tough, but at the same time we have had new experiences. We have had to start remote learning and whether online or on paper, I have felt that has been set up really nicely.  It has certainly been an adventure to find new ways to learn as well as stay connected with friends and family during these tough times. It's been scary and fun, but there's a feeling that something new is coming. By Luca C

It was overwhelming at the start because I didn’t know what was going to happen, not only with remote learning but what was happening in the world. When we started doing remote learning it was a rush of sudden realization that a virus is actually spreading rapidly fast and killing people. Having to stay inside really affected me, I am a very loud and social person and I love to be with people. Being inside has made me realised how much being outside is really fun and enjoyable. I have now become more creative and have done some fun, artsy stuff that I find really calming and fun. By Emilia

A word from the school Captains

Hello fellow students and parents of St Fidelis,

The school captains, Luca and Mary would like to give a big welcome back to Term 2.

Thank you everyone for a successful first week of remote learning.

Thank you to our school teachers who are doing their best to keep St Fidelis primary school going and who are working tirelessly to make sure that even though most of us can not be in the same room, that the students are still learning .

Thank you to everyone for co-operating with the teachers and  parents.

Remember to stay safe and keep on learning.
