From the Principal

Benvenuto - Welcome

Last Friday, we celebrated our college Opening Mass. Fr Peter Taylor joined us on site for a lovely Eucharistic celebration. It was unfortunate that we could not have external visitors, but we were able to stream the Mass online for those who could join. The 2021 theme of being ‘bearers of hope’ was launched at the Mass and we were reminded that even in the toughest of times, we are called to be hope-filled people. Pope Francis reminds us that hope opens up new horizons, making us capable of dreaming what is not even imaginable. New horizons . . . capable . . . dreaming, words that remind us of our college mission and graduate outcomes. Just this week we addressed feedback from some of our School of Innovation students around a respectful challenge of an existing rule. The feedback was so beautifully articulated and passionately argued, and for me encapsulated the essence of what we are trying to instill in our young students – that they have a voice that is powerful and valid, and that entering into respectful dialogue and debate around things that really matter to us are important dispositions to develop; stretching to new horizons, dreaming of new possibilities. A letter to parents explaining the details of this matter is available on PAM.

Students transitioned well from distance learning back to onsite learning this week.

We began 2021 with such hope for a more ‘normal’ life in a new COVID world. The latest five-day snap lockdown threw out the challenge yet again to test our resilience and strength in adversity. Our whole community responded so well to the situation and we were able to successfully navigate another round of distance learning, albeit only for two days! Due to this latest COVID situation we were forced to postpone our Year 9 and Foundation information nights and our annual Twilight Swimming Carnival. We are very keen to get these up and running again as soon as possible so please stay connected to PAM, Facebook and your emails as the main sources of communication to update you when we will be able to offer these again. If you have any questions or concerns in the meantime, please contact the college. There is also a presentation available on the college website in regards to information about the Year 9 program.
