A short week this week. I hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend.

Wednesday Evening Sport

Wednesday evening sport was a fun evening of netball with nearly 40 students participating in several teams. Rebecca Muir and Emma Derbyshire took charge of the umpiring and did a stirling job, both umpiring and explaining the rules to novice “netballers”. Great work.

Basketball

Last night both basketball teams commenced the finals in the local competition. Unfortunately both teams lost, but they have another chance next Monday. We did have 55 students go in to support and cheer the teams. It was awesome to see all our students rocking the stand in support.

Wet Weather

With the unusual wet weather, just a reminder to our students playing town sport, to take spare clothes to change into after training.

WACOA Carnival

The weekend is fast approaching with most sports having at least one practice to finalise teams prior to the event.

Proceedings will be a little different this year with sport Friday night and all day Saturday. This year we will finish the day with dinner at the College, where all results will be finalised and trophies awarded.

This will allow the other Colleges the Sunday to make their way home.

Laundry

Once again, a reminder that there are a lot of unmarked clothes coming through the laundry.  Please be aware that the iron on name tags are inclined to wash off in our machines.

Sheets

It is a requirement that each student has two sets of sheets, as well as a mattress protector.  If you are yet to supply a second set of sheets, can you please rectify this immediately.

Student Return and Residential Duty of Care

It would be appreciated if Residential staff could be made aware of any changes to times/modes of transport etc prior to the student returning after leave of any type.

Last Monday, several students arrived back on site unannounced, with different modes of transport, as well as a number of students who returned later than their leave indicated.

Residential staff are allocated according to the Duty of Care required as indicated by the nominated leave. When this changes unexpectedly, it puts extra pressure on staff resources and movements.  It also means follow up phone calls are often required to ensure the safety of our students and families.

Thank you for your assistance with this in the future.
