Year 7 teams compete in their first ever volleyball tournament

Northcote High School had 4 teams compete in the Volleyball Victoria Schools Cup in the last week of July. Two of these teams were from Year 7 competing in their first ever volleyball tournament. Our Year 7 Gold team and Year 9 girls team won silver medals, Year 10 girls finished 4th and Year 7 Purple 5th in their respective pools. These results are a credit to the commitment of the students and their coaches. We would like to thank parents and families of the players for supporting the program and the tournament. It was so great to have such a large and energetic cheer squad to the games over the three days.

The Volleyball Development Program at NHS is growing, with participants receiving professional coaching on a weekly basis through our partnership with Northern Volleyball. The Victoria Schools Cup is the first of two major tournaments for our teams throughout the year. Our two older teams will compete in the Australian Volleyball Schools Cup in December at the Gold Coast.

If you would like to know more about the volleyball program, get involved in some way or offer a donation to assist the growth of the program, please contact Lauren Jacobs via email at Jacobs.lauren.e@edumail.vic.gov.au.
