Principal's Message

Aspire, Celebrate, Reflect

Principal, Mr Roger Herbert

Dear Parents,

This week we held our Founder's Assembly dedicated to our College Founder, Rev Dr Fred McKay, and to the pioneers of Central Australia who our pastoral care Houses are named after.

The story of St Philip's College is unique, a school with an organic upbringing that really grew from the ground up. The school was built by our infamous Work Parties and members of the local community, ably led by Fred McKay, a man with foresight and vision. Fred inspired hundreds of people to follow him and they contributed by building the solid foundations from which our school has evolved.

I want to publicly thank Fred for his contribution and commitment in building a college which has gone on to provide high quality education for rural and remote students. I'd also like to thank the hundreds of people, who over the years, have given up thousands of hours of their own time to ensure the continuation of Fred's vision.

The history of St Philip's College can be found in The Right Amount of Crazy, a book by John and Alison Lamont. The book is available for students in the library or if you would like your own copy, you can order it here

Thank you and Be Kind Always,

~ Mr Roger Herbert
