Message from Gemma
Principal – St John's Footscray
Dear families and friends,
I hope you all enjoyed your long weekend. Thank you for your support on Tuesday, we spent the day working on the Victorian Curriculum - capabilities and Wellbeing for learning. The day was led by Jarryd and Lauren (capabilities) and Ashlee (wellbeing). Both parts of the day enriched our knowledge and understandings and provided a path forward.
Our getting ready to learn has and will continue to focus on our wellbeing, health and personal and social goals. These skills we focus on will ensure we build greater self awareness and strategies to support our whole self.
The capabilities (Ethical, Intercultural, Personal and Social and Critical / Creative thinking) will continue to be explicitly taught within our learning design. It is expected that the skills and knowledge defined in the capabilities will be developed, practised and demonstrated in and through all learning across the curriculum.
Cross country & Swimming legends
Thank you to all of our cross country runners - you were AMAZING!!! We have Noah, Joanna and Pearl heading through to the next round. Well done to our swimmers, we have Oliver, Joshua, Eliza, Vanessa, Tom, Jimmy, Joanna, Eric heading to division swimming.
LEGO CLUB & CHOIR
Lego club begins this week - launching first with our 3/4 hub. Each hub will have an opportunity to experience Lego club. After this it will be open at lunch for who ever would like to 'lego it up!"
Other clubs:
Choir Thursdays & ukulele Tuesdays
2021 Leave
From Monday 22nd March - Thursday 1st April I will begin study leave. Once again working on my PhD research. I will repeat this time in June/July. My hope / aim is to complete this study by 2021 hence the time I need away. I have decided to break my study leave over two terms to reduce or limit the impact on the school. During both times of study leave - Lauren Davis and Aoife McCarthy (Deputy Principals) will be your go to person. Thank you once again for your continued support and hopefully I can show you all a certificate of completion in the near future.
Have a great weekend,
Gemma
