News from the Secondary School
It was a delight to welcome back on Thursday our highest achieving VCE students from last year; Isaiah Smith, Holly Sharman and Keziah Rankcom.
They spent some time having lunch with Mrs Sketcher and Mrs Dumicich before attending our Whole Secondary Assembly. Here they were invited to share some of their tips and strategies for managing Year 12 and for studying in general. They had some inspiring messages for our secondary students and expressed how grateful they were for the opportunity to do their schooling at MECS. In particular they reflected on the value of being taught by teachers that truly cared for them.
This week or next they will all start their chosen university courses. Isaiah is studying a Bachelor of Design at the University of Melbourne; Keziah is undertaking a double degree in Arts/Law at Deakin University; and Holly is commencing a Bachelor of Paramedicine at Australian Catholic University.
We wish them, and all members of the class of 2022, all the very best as they take their next steps into further education and/or work this year.
We announced our Year 12 leaders: Sophie Van Den Broek, Jackson Clarke and Jerush Perera. Again, each of these students bring unique gifts and qualities that will compliment each other well and be an incredible blessing to the school. These students were selected by their teachers as they epitomise the values that we uphold in the Senior School at MECS: respect for one another, a growing relationship with God and faithfulness towards their learning.
Congratulations also to all our Student Tribal leaders also announced at this assembly.
Congratulations also to Micah Edmeades who has been accepted for the Kwong Lee Dow Young Scholars Program.
