Upcoming learning

During the next fortnight, Prep students will be undertaking learning in the following areas:

Reading

Week 8 and 9: We will engage in daily Phonics lessons, focusing on the letter sounds of /t/ and /c/ following the Little Learners Love Literacy sequence. Each week, we will read a page of 'Milo's birthday surprise' to help us explore the sounds.

We will be learning all about rhyming words, which includes word families.

Writing

Week 8 and 8: We will engage in weekly fine motor activities.

We will learn the correct letter formation of letters /t/ and /c/.

We will continue to learn about letters, words and sentences.

Maths

Week 8: We will be focusing on subutising. This is how we recognise 'how many' there are in a collection quickly, without the need to count.

Week 9: We will be focusing on 2D shape and how to identify them in our environment.

Inquiry

Week 8: Our focus will continue to be identity. We will put all of our learnings together to make our 'Identity puzzles.'

Week 9: We will be learning about healthy eating and why this is so important.

Social and Emotional

Week 8: We will continue learning about identifying the size of the problem and how to appropriately react. This will support our focus on problem solving.

Week 9: We will be learning about having a 'Growth mindset,' and showing resilience. This helps us learn new things and take on challenges with a positive attitude.

News and reminders

Blue reader bags and phonics books! Our phonics books align with the same Little Learners Love Literacy sequence that we follow in the classroom. Please support your child to review these sounds during the week. We ask that you please return the books each Monday for teachers to add our new sounds for the week.
If you have any questions about these home phonics books, please let your child's teacher know. We are always happy to help! Thank you for your ongoing support.
Please ensure library books are sent back to school on the day of your child's session. This will ensure they are able to borrow new books for the week.
