Learn about our Secondary - Information Evening for our Year 5 and 6 parents and students

We are excited to be holding an evening where we are inviting all our Year 5 and 6 parents and students to come and hear about how DCS is doing Secondary differently. Come and hear about our commitment to continuing our DCS learning culture and community into the Secondary years.

The Secondary Information Evening will be held on Thursday 23rd March at 6:30pm, in our Secondary building. You will hear from our current Year 7 students, staff and parents.

Parents and students in Years 5 and 6 are invited to come along and find out more about Secondary at DCS.

Every Year 6 student is automatically held a place for Year 7 at DCS. To assist us in our planning for 2024, we are asking parents to please provide an indication if you are intending to continue your enrolment at DCS to Year 7 for 2024 by clicking here.

COVID Update

There have been no changes to COVID requirements from the end of 2022. As before, if your child is feeling unwell, please keep them home. You may wish to test for COVID, although this is not mandatory. We have a supply of RATs available from the school office for any families who would like them, just call or email the office and we will arrange for some to sent home.

Whilst it is not mandatory to report COVID cases, it does help us if we are aware of cases within our student body. These can be reported using the comment section if reporting an absence using the DCS App, or by email to reception@dcs.tas.edu.au

Extended Leave

With school holidays fast approaching, please be reminded of the following from our Parent Handbook regarding extended leave during school terms:

Parents must notify the school in advance for a planned absence (such as a holiday or appointment) and this will be placed into the SchoolPro attendance system. Family holidays are required by State Law to be marked as unauthorised absences (See 3.3 in Attendance Policy with reference to the Education Act 2016). Parents wishing to take their children travelling during the school term for a period longer than 1 week, will need to complete an ‘Application for Extended Leave’ form and meet with the Principal for approval prior to travelling. This meeting will discuss a learning plan either before, during or after the trip to allow the student to catch up with work missed.

Please contact the school office if you require an Application for Extended Leave form.
