What's Happening in Secondary

What is Secondary up to?

Secondary students look great in their new polo tops as they play basketball with the new basketball hoops! Miss Coates showed us how ruthless she is in Throw Throw Burrito, while Miss Webber had a mean abdominal workout for the Girls Bootcamp class!

In Class

Math- We have finished our first unit on Decimals. Students should be proud of the effort they put into their first unit. Students who need some more help on rounding and adding and subtracting decimals have had some targeted growth time on it.

Science - We made sherbet! Students are learning about mixtures and techniques for separation. 

HASS - We are coming to the conclusion of our Intro to History unit. Big questions about the Age of the Earth and being descendants of Noah have come up for students and staff to grapple with. 

English - Getting the basics right - We are working really hard at sentence and paragraph structure. 

BEYOND design - We started prototyping our enteric coatings for our slow release tablets.

Out and About

Our new BBQs got a work out this week for the first time, the Bacon and Eggs rolls smelt great!

Outdoor Ed went for a recreational bike ride through Don, and learnt how to safety check their bikes. 

Drama made an "old fashioned school lesson" clip for our Dedication Service. 

Upcoming Dates:

• Our Gatherings - every Friday at 9am the Secondary hold 'Our Gathering'. 'Our Gathering' is an assembly with worship, a guest sharing, and Shout Outs (Character celebrations for our students). It was great to have so many parents join us for 'Our Gathering' last week.Parents, family and friends are always welcome to come along and experience 'Our Gathering'. Our delicious hot drinks are available from the café from 8:50am. 

Learn about our Secondary - Information Evening for our Year 5 and 6 parents and students

We are excited to be holding an evening where we are inviting all our Year 5 and 6 parents and students to come and hear about how DCS is doing secondary differently. Come and hear about our commitment to continuing our DCS learning culture and community into the secondary years. 

The DCS Secondary Information Evening will be held on Thursday 23rd March at 6:30pm, in our Secondary building. You will hear from our current Year 7 students, staff and parents. 

Parents and students in Years 5 and 6 are invited to come along and find out more about secondary at DCS.

Every Year 6 student is automatically held a place for Year 7 at DCS. To assist us in our planning for 2024, we are asking parents to please provide an indication if you are intending to continue your enrolment at DCS to Year 7 for 2024 by clicking here.
