Primary Character Focus - Obedience

For the remainder of Term 1 we shift our character focus from Attentiveness to Obedience. Character First defines obedience as “Cheerfully carrying out the directions and wishes of those who are responsible for me.”

During the Monday assemblies we will dig a little deeper into what it means to have a strong character trait of obedience. Using the five "I will" statements (see below) students will learn ways in which they can display obedience and live it out.

The five I will statements are:

  • I will obey my authorities.
  • I will have a cheerful attitude.
  • I will complete all that am expected to do.
  • I will not complain.
  • I will go the extra mile.

Ephesians 6:1-3: Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. "Honor your father and mother" which is the first commandment with a promise, "that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth."

We are excited to be holding an evening where we are inviting all our Year 5 and 6 parents and students to come and hear about how DCS is doing secondary differently. Come and hear about our commitment to continuing our DCS learning culture and community into the secondary years.

The DCS Secondary Information Evening will be held on Thursday 23rd March at 6:30pm, in our Secondary building. You will hear from our current Year 7 students, staff and parents.

Parents and students in Years 5 and 6 are invited to come along and find out more about secondary at DCS.

Every Year 6 student is automatically held a place for Year 7 at DCS. To assist us in our planning for 2024, we are asking parents to please provide an indication if you are intending to continue your enrolment at DCS to Year 7 for 2024 by clicking here.
