From the Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we come closer to the end of the school term, there are lots of activities still happening in our St Simon’s Community.

Year 4 Camp

This week our Year 4 students are attending a one-night camp at Camp Wyuna, located in Queenscliffe.  Whilst the weather looks to be a bit inclement, there are plenty of wet weather contingencies available to the students and staff.  We look forward to hearing more about their adventures over the next few weeks through the newsletter.

Twilight Sports - Friday 31st March 4:30-6:30pm

We are monitoring the weather and forecast as we get closer to our Twilight Sports Carnival this Friday.  The recent and forecast rains are placing some doubt over whether we can proceed with this event.

A final decision will be made at the end of the day on Thursday based on the condition of the oval and the updated forecast for Friday.

If we must postpone the event, then it will reschedule for a Term 4 date when we can take advantage of the Daylight Savings arrangement again.

Further communication will be sent to the school community on Thursday afternoon.

COVID Awareness

The impact of COVID continues to prevail amongst the community, and even though there are no longer strict government mandates or controls in place, we must continue to be vigilant about reducing the impact of COVID on members of the community. I would like to encourage all families to make themselves aware of the current health advice related to Victorian Catholic Schools.

Parent-Teacher Meetings - Week 10

There has been a strong response to parent-teacher appointments across the community with families taking advantage of in-person and video-based meetings.

Go to schoolinterviews.com.au, enter meeting code evffz

Select the meeting type: In-person or Video

Follow the prompts to make an appointment.

Parent Teacher Meetings are one of the ways we formally communicate as part of the partnership between home and school.

All face-to-face Parent Teacher Interviews will be held in the Library and the ground

floor of Building B.

Students will be dismissed at 2:15 pm on Monday and Wednesday. For families who

cannot pick up their children at this time, the school will provide supervision until 3:15pm in the school hall.  All students under supervision will need to be picked up from the school hall. Please note that from 3:00pm the basketball court will be open for parent car parking.

School Photos Monday 3rd April

School-Pix will be visiting our school on Monday 3rd April to complete the annual school photo activity.  Please note that staff will be having a group photo taken at 8:00am on Monday morning so parents should only be dropping students at school from 8:20am.

Stations of the Cross Thursday 6th April 2:15pm

Next Thursday we will be gathering as a school community to prepare and immerse ourselves in the Easter Season as the Year 6 students lead the Stations of the Cross. This is a reflective and prayerful experience where the key moments of the easter story are dramatised and reflected upon.  All school families are welcome and encouraged to attend.  Weather permitting the Stations of the Cross will be held on the basketball courts.

By-Election for Seat of Aston

This Saturday 1st April is the voting day for the By-Election for the Federal seat of Aston and St Simon’s Primary (Building B) will be a nominated Polling Place.  If you live within the electorate of Aston and need to vote on Saturday, I encourage you to come and cast your vote at St Simon’s. As you leave you might like to pick up a sausage or some amazing baked goodies from the wonderful St Simon’s Parents’ Association Election Day BBQ.  Thank you to our dedicated volunteers on the day and local business support of the sausage sizzle.
