College Sport

Welcome back to Sport for Term 3.  Some of our Term 2 sports resumed this term, including SSATIS Netball and Badminton. We wish all players, coaches and managers all the best as they finish their rosters or prepare for finals.

In the meantime, new Basketball, AFL and Hockey rosters will commence this term and teams are now coming together.  The College will field two Secondary basketball teams, three Primary basketball teams, a Secondary AFL team, a Year 7/8 and two Primary Hockey teams.

Secondary Netball

The Secondary Netball rosters are now drawing to a close.  Thanks to our fabulous coaches and managers including Year 8 student Hayley Davis, parents Maria Gerathy, Tanya Furjanic, Teena Mills, Jo-Anne Brett, Faine Sassin, Simon Davis, Madeleine Ogilvie, Jennifer Malloy, staff member Hayley Woodham, and to our umpires Year 9 student Rebekah Furjanic,  Jim McCluskey and Yvette Onn.

On Tuesday night the Year 10 Division 2 team played off in the Grand Final against St Mary’s.  The Mount Carmel spirit was strong with the team fighting hard right to the end, but unfortunately St Mary’s were too strong on the night.

The Year 7 Division 1 team has finished the round matches in top spot on the ladder.  They will play in the grand final next Monday against Dominic.  Good luck to the team.

The season has concluded for the Navy and White teams competing in the Year 7 division 2 roster.  Both teams had a mix of experience in the team and it was great to see them improve as the season went on and enjoy some wins along the way.

The Year 8 rosters have one more roster game to play.  The Division 1 team have performed strongly and are still hopeful for a place in the final.  The Navy team in Division 2 have found the going a bit tougher, but have shown great commitment throughout the season.  They enjoyed a fabulous win against Fahan in the final game last term, which was well deserved.

The Year 10 team competing in the 1st Grade team College roster completed their season last term.   The team were competitive in the roster, earning some wins along the way, and really enjoyed the experience.

Water Polo

The season has concluded for the Year 7/8 Water Polo team, unfortunately missing out on finals.  The team was competitive throughout the season, securing 3 wins, a draw and some narrow margin losses.     Well done to the team, and especially to those that were trying water polo for the first time.  State representatives Charlotte Webb and Maya Chapman were the leading goal scorers for the season.

Special thanks to Year 10 student, Dayna White, for Coaching the team and Teena Mills for Managing.  Thanks also to families for helping out teams with scoring, transporting and supporting.
