Assistant Principal
Year 11 & 12
On Friday 18th October, our Year 12 students had their final school day. Year 12 Celebration Day gave students an opportunity to celebrate the milestone of having completed 13 years of schooling. Students dressed up in costume and had a range of activities to enjoy over the course of the day. Students indulged in a pancake breakfast, fairy floss and popcorn and had other activities on the oval such as a mechanical bull, a jumping castle, bubble soccer and much more. The day ended with a final slideshow covering 6 years of schooling, a final speech from our School Captains to the entire school community and a final parade out of the college. I’d like to thank all of the organisation of the day by the Year 12 Student Managers Emma Domm and Sam Magnano.
Now students have finished their formal classes and the excitement of Celebration Day is over all students should be using every possible opportunity that they can to study in preparation for their exams. Students wishing to return to school to see teachers must be in school uniform and sign in at the office. I strongly encourage students to use every available resource to them including their teachers, Edrolo and check in on Compass for messages from their teachers. The Study Centre will be open for students to use. Parents should also continue to check Compass as this is our main method of communication when students are not at the college.
We wish our Year 12 students all the best as they push themselves towards the finish line!

In preparation for Year 12, all year 11 students have a 3 day compulsory Study Camp for the first 3 days of classes in 2020. This camp is designed to give students a head start in Year 12 with a range of sessions about study skills, wellness activities, careers advice, watching the English film and group activities that build relationships that will support students through the challenges of Year 12. Current Year 11 students can pay for this excursion with CSEF.

Year 9 &10
Welcome back to Term 4. This is an important term across the school as students from all levels work hard to consolidate, and demonstrate their learning achievement for the year. At years nine and ten students are currently working hard to complete assessments and prepare for end of semester exams.
On behalf of the 9 and 10 team, we would like to thank all of our parents who made time to attend the Parent Teacher Conferences held last term. We greatly value the partnership we have with our families and the role it plays in improving the learning for your child. These interviews gave parents the opportunity to discuss their child’s progress in detail and to work together with the teacher to support continued learning. Your support and encouragement at home is pivotal to the overall progress your child is able to attain at school. Progress Reports are available on the Compass Portal, under the Report tab.
If you have any concerns about your child's progress or wellbeing, please make sure you contact their relevant Student Manager.
Year 9 students are encouraged to apply for the Senior School Scholarships. These scholarships are for students entering their senior years of schooling and are active for three years - 10, 11 and 12. They are open to all students in year 9 this year who embrace the school values of Pride, Achievement, Caring, Cooperation and Honesty. We have many students who display these values and who are hardworking and striving to achieve their best. There are four scholarships categories: Sport, Community, Academic and Leadership. A letter explaining the criteria’s and containing application forms will be available to all families with children in year 9 next week from the general office or the year 9 and 10 coordinators office. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you require any further information.

Year 7 & 8
From futsal to volleyball and our fun run, It’s great to see so many great sporting events taking place in and beyond the college. Apart from the enjoyable sense of positive competition, it’s so important that we all maintain a healthy level of physical activity for general wellbeing and our learning – healthy bodies foster healthy minds.
On the subject of health, our year 7s will complete their final HPV booster immunisations on
Thursday, October 31st. This is a brief and simple process that will minimise interruptions to classes on the day.
All students took the opportunity to wave off our Year 12ves on Friday, as they left to commence their swat vac in preparation for the exam period. On behalf of the junior Sub-School, I would like to take the opportunity to wish our year 12ves all the very best for the exams. It is both an anxious and exciting time. Watching the senior students provides opportunity for our younger students to reflect upon their own education journey, and to imagine themselves at that point in their lives. It’s a worthwhile reflection….what do I hope for in my studies and future pathways. I remind all younger students to take a keen interest in their future plans (even if they often change).
The departure of the 12ves reminds us that we have another group of year 6 students coming to the college for their first time next week, for testing day. On this day our new students complete a range of diagnostic testing as one of the ways for our college to determine how to best meet every student’s individual learning needs. Please welcome these students and make them feel comfortable, remembering what an exciting yet challenging day it can be for our grade sixes coming across.
