Cross Country

A few weeks ago, the Aitken Hill Primary School Cross Country Team competed against numerous schools across the Craigieburn network at Brimbank Park. The 9 and 10 year olds ran 2km and the 11 and 12 year olds ran 3km of the track. The children persevered through quite warm temperatures sweating it out and giving it their best shot. Congratulations to all participants. I was so proud to be representing the school with such a well behaved group of students. A special mention to Ayah Fawaz from grade 5 who is competing this week in the Woodlands division. We wish you all the best!

Athletics Coach 

Some of our school was lucky enough to have Heather from the Little Athletics Program (LAPS) coach them on some basic techniques used within Athletics. She exposed the students in events like long jump, triple jump and shot put. As well as, introducing the grade 3/4 students to a standing start and ensuring toes aren't over the starting line. Thank you Heather for your wonderful knowledge!

Lunchtime Football

Every Wednesday, students are welcome to attend lunchtime football. It exposes children to different skill techniques relevant for a AFL match. Things we have been practising include punts, marks and hand balling. 

Highlands Park Run 

Every Saturday at 8am the Highlands Park Run is on. It is a free 5km timed event located on Stockland’s Highlands community, Northshore Drive. Its an event where the whole family can be included in to run or walk. If you are interested please logon to www.highlandsparkrun.com to register. 

A school representative will try to be there every last Saturday of the month on these dates June 29th, July 27th, August 31st, September 28th, October 26th, November 30th and December 30th. Hope to see you there!

Earn & Learn 

For every $10 spent at Woolworths you can get an Earn and Learn sticker. The more Earn and Learn stickers you get, the more you equipment our school can receive in return. The competition runs until June 25th, so collect as many as you can now to give our school the opportunity to win lots. There is an earn and learn box at the front of the hall and in the office. Keep collecting them stickers!
