Middle School Report

Middle School Report

Welcome to our last newsletter for term 2. I would like to acknowledge the hard work of both staff and students during this first semester. Students academic reports will be accessible shortly, and with that I implore that both students and parents take the opportunity to reflect results, comments and improvement areas. If any parents or students require follow up I would ask you to please contact the relevant teacher or the middle school office to speak with me. Students results will have an impact on course selection heading into 2020 so it is very important that any questions you may have are addressed promptly.

Year 10 work experience was a very successful week with great feedback from both students and employers, several employers stated that some students were the ‘best work experience student they’ve had’. Well done to Group 1, you have done yourself and your school proud. The challenge is for Group 2 to meet these high standards that have been previously set. I am extremely confident they will achieve this.

Year 10 exams were conducted last week, and we are pleased to report we had a very high attendance rate. I asked students to use the experience of sitting their first exams as a learning tool in preparation for all future exams.

All Year 9 students will be undertaking a ‘Career Advisory Service’ in term 3. This is a great opportunity for students to start learning about themselves, their interests, and strengths regarding their future career goals. More information will follow soon.

The number of students wearing full school uniform in the middle school has increased significantly. Thank you to those families and students who support our uniform policy. If any family are experiencing difficulties in their child being in full uniform, please contact the middle school office to see what assistance can be offered.

In closing, I implore all students to try and achieve 100% attendance. While there are circumstances such as illnesses or family issues that are unavoidable it impacts highly on student outcomes if they have low attendance.

I would like to wish all students, families and staff a safe and restful holiday break.
