KITCHEN GARDEN PROGRAM

In the Garden

It was a gardening week for all Grade 3 and 4 students.

Our first job was to check out the seeds planted a couple of weeks ago. We were pretty excited to find beetroot, lettuce, beans and zucchinis have germinated and are growing strongly. We talked about why some have not yet begun to grow. Some ideas included not enough water, too much sun, we haven't given the seeds enough time, the mulch on top was to thick and (possibly) the seeds were planted too deep. That's okay - we do some of our best learning after making a mistake. SO... some more seeds were planted, the ground cleared of sticks, the ground was weeded, accumulated rubbish was put in the dumper, butcher boys were examined and our plants were watered. The garden is looking wonderful.

Well done everyone.
