EMR Cricket Report

On the 1st November the Year 7 Boys cricket traveled  to Balwyn North for our quarter final against Box Hill High School.  We won the toss and elected to bat first.  Ryan and Romesh opened the batting and got off to a solid start until Ryan got a bit impatient and got caught at cover.  Parth came in next and didn’t last long after four dots went for a big slog and got caught at short 3rd man.  Will came in as our special late inclusion to the team, he smashed some really quick runs.  Once Will went out it was time for all of us to start getting some quick runs, but while trying to get quick runs more wickets started to fall Romesh (49), Callum (0), Aman (5), Matt (0).  Wantirna finished 9/99 off 20 overs. Our strength was our bowling just line and length, but today we were way too short which was hard to protect. Too many extras as well didn’t help with them piling on boundaries regularly.  It took a while for our first wicket but once we got both their rep players out we still thought we were a chance.  But some unlucky plays where the ball would hit the stumps, but the bails would not come off occurred twice which would prove costly! In the end we lost convincingly in the 18th over.  We will need to improve our fielding next year.  Overall, we had a wonderful time winning a close game against Rowville, and Upwey.  We can’t wait for next year and hopefully go one step further than this year.

We would like to thank Mr Brooks, Lachlan and Jackson for their efforts as coaches.  Also like to thank the players who showed all their skill and commitment throughout our Year 7 boys cricket journey.
