Snowy River

Snowy River

On the 13th November, a group of Year 9 students travelled a 5 hour bus trip to the Snowy River to do white water rafting.  We had a few food and toilet stops along the way, but once we arrived at our destination, we unpacked our luggage and transferred all our things into dry bags.  Our luggage could come on the rafts with us.  We rafted to 4 different camp sites overall.  We would raft about 4 to 5 hours a day to our next destination.  During the trips we stopped for lunch each day and also go to do cliff jumping along the way which was an amazing experience and opportunity.  We also stopped and went and looked at a couple really ancient caves which was amazing to see.

The food was something different, but really yummy!  We cooked all our food over the campfire, which was a new and great experience.

We slept on the group with thin mats and sleeping bags, but it was good to do property camping.  Throughout the camp we saw plenty of animals, snakes, lizards, eels, cows, spiders and a lot more.

Overall, we rafted through 98 rapids and it was extremely challenging but a good adrenaline rush.

Overall, the Snowy River was more than amazing.  It was challenging and exhausting, but such a great experience and I think everyone would do it again in a heartbeat.

I would like to thank Mr Cameron for giving us the opportunity to share such an amazing experience with him and for taking us all on the camp and for organising all the great activities.  So a big thank you to Mr Cameron and also Miss Ivan for helping out.

Thank you

Shayla Brown 9D
