Damper in the Pines
This week the Lighthouse Keepers began a Unit of Inquiry in which we go bush utilising both our Pines playground and the Darebin Parklands. We started by having a campfire day in our Pines. We lit the fire in the fire pit, and waited until we had created some hot coals. We heated water for tea, and milk with honey for a campfire take on Chai-Latte.
Once the fire had burned down some more we were ready to bake our gluten free damper in our cast iron oven. We also built a waterfall and the dry creek bed became a running creek! Lucky we had our wellington boots!
The Pines will see some changes in the coming weeks with the Lighthouse Keepers spending each Monday there cooking and taking care of our own precious bush block.
