Middle Years

I would like to congratulate students on completing their examinations, and conducting themselves in a purposeful and steady manner during this period. I would like to reinforce that examinations are more about process than the results, and introducing students to revision skills and exam protocols. We find that students get better at the revision process, and at sitting the examinations. At the core of this process is good organisation and a strong commitment to learning.

One of the main focuses in MyPEC is to help students develop pro-social skills. Each year level is a dynamic mix of teenagers who are exploring life and trying to work out who they are. A corner stone to good relationships is not to put others down, as put downs are damaging. I find teenagers are quick to put others down, and can make a comment that is meant to be amusing but it reduces trust and causing hurt. I encourage all students to;

  • think before you say something.
  • be mindful of your comments.
  • stop putting others down.
  • be kind.

Finally, I would like ask “What have you been grateful for this week?”

Building wellbeing in other people and ourselves means intentionally embedding and practising positive habits and routines in order to create flourishing lives.

Congratulations to our Year 6 students who competed in the SSV Division Cross Country last week.
