Remote Learning

Update

Our transition to remote learning has been a huge success and we are grateful to our wonderful teachers and students for their hard work and willingness to embrace new ideas. It's a testament to the strength and resilience of our school community that so much can change in such a short amount of time and we can do it successfully.

I would like to acknowledge our hard working staff who have spent hours and hours planning for a new way of teaching. They have learnt new platforms and worked collaboratively to support each other in trying new things and developing new curriculum.

Our students have eagerly jumped on board and enjoyed connecting with their teachers and their peers. The student survey results from last week tell us that their learning is stimulating and engaging, however 'there is lots of it.' (A quote from one of our year 7 students when we had lunch with them via Webex today - a great way of connecting with our students and getting feedback).

As we settle into this new way of learning, we will find a balance of work load, expectations and what is working and what isn't. We are eager to continue hearing from our students to ensure that our teaching and learning program is engaging and giving opportunities to our students  to progress in their learning.

As we finish week 2 of Remote Learning, we encourage students to exercise regularly and close their screens when they can. We have many whole school programs for students to engage in and get their families to involved too.

Just a reminder for students to always check Compass first when they are accessing their learning. Teachers will post full lesson plans with learning intentions and success criteria so students know what the purpose of their learning is and how they will know if they have learnt it. Learning activities will be posted on Compass or directions for what platform students need to access will be there too.

Finally, thank you to our parents who are facing new challenges just like our teachers and students. Our message to parents is not to stress about the little things. We are all learning and we are all making mistakes however, it's how we respond to our mistakes that truly make a difference.

Take care and look after each other - in the words of High School Musical 'we are all in this together.'
