Year 11 Location shoot: Hosier Lane

by Matt Barker, teacher of Film in the DP

On Tuesday 13 March, Film students met bright and early (8.30am) at the steps of Flinders Street railway station for a location shoot in Hosier Lane. They had the opportunity to use a variety of DSLR cameras, lenses and steady cams to workshop cinematography techniques in busy city locations.

In their filming they focused on the use of natural light and spontaneity evident in the work of Jean-Luc Godard. They are now editing their footage using Adobe Premiere Pro to achieve effects such as jump cuts and montage techniques inspired by the experimental films of Dziga Vertov.
