Wellness Week

This week has seen a plethora of activities to celebrate ‘Wellness Week’.  Mrs Milich and her ‘Kids Matter’ team have done a fabulous job at mapping out the week with a series of engaging recess and lunch endeavours. We have been treated to a disco, House Lego competitions, skipping sessions, three-legged races, a lunchtime movie and many more.  At Monday’s Assembly, we focused our attention on the College value of ‘compassion’ and doing things for others.

Young House Service

Congratulations to Young House students, Mrs Kelly, Mrs Callinan, Ms Bolton, Mrs Christie and Reverend Angie Griffin for a fabulous House Service at the Uniting Church on Wednesday.  The theme was ‘respect’.  The students spoke with conviction, sang with gusto and the through line of respect resonated with all in attendance.

Prep Orientation Program

This week, all Junior School families received a brochure advertising our 2020 Prep Orientation programme that commences on Thursday, 10th October.  It is a tremendous programme which culminates in a full day for the 2020 Prep students on our whole school Orientation Day – Thursday, 14th November.

Grandparents' Day - 2019

Lock the following date into your diaries - Thursday, 7th November. This year, we will be combining Grandparents’ Day with the opening of our Art Exhibition and Blessing of the Pets. We look forward to a rewarding morning with our special guests.

Golden Tickets

To celebrate ‘Book Week’ and ‘Wellness Week’, five golden tickets have been hidden inside the covers of books in our Junior School Library.  Charlie Hiscock, Sarah Crowle and Hugh Foster have so far been the lucky readers to find one of these elusive treasures. They will receive their reward at the end of the week. Two tickets remain to be found by students during their Library lessons.

Early Learning Centre

At the Early Learning Centre have enjoyed participating in Wellness Week. PJ day on Tuesday was definitely a favourite. It has been great up catching up with parents this week celebrating their children’s learning with our Parent Teacher Conversations. I hope parents enjoyed it as much as I did.

A reminder to parents to RSVP for afternoon tea on Friday afternoon to wrap up Wellness Week.  We will be cooking up

some Blueberry Muffins in the morning to share with parents and families at 2:45pm.

Hockey

College Division 5 went down 5-0 to a strong Dunkeld side. The team played with enthusiasm and on the balance of things, competed hard for the ball and never gave up. It has been a tremendous season, and congratulations must go to coaches Mr Ben Hiscock and Georgia Hermon.

College Drop Bears went down 4-2 to Demons.  It wasn’t the best of afternoons for the Drop Bears, who were out enthused by their opposition. Alex Donovan played well as goalie. Anna Davidson scored a cracking goal and played with conviction.  She was ably supported by Chloe Laidlaw, who returned to the field after a long absence, and Charlie Jarvis in the midfield. Seven days is a long time in sports. Drop Bears will again take on Demons in a Preliminary Final on Saturday.

College Bandicoots earned three points with a hard-fought 4 -1 win over an improved Dunkeld. Scores were locked at 1-1 at halftime. Jono Stewart scored his first goal for the season. He was joined on the scoresheet by Ciaran Nelson, Chloe Headlam and Fingal Jackson.

Preliminary Finals Draw - Saturday, August 31st.  Games are at Pedrina Park.

Bandicoots v Tassie Devils at 1.30 pm

Drop Bears v Demons at 3.15 pm
