artistic opportunities

Head of Learning - Art & Design

For several years now, the BSC Art & Design Learning Area has run a short course cocurricular activity for VCE art students.  This course consists of two sessions and allows students to gain valuable practice in life drawing.

Different artists  focus on different things - perhaps portraits, landscapes, abstract,  still life or sculpture - and use a variety of mediums to produce their art.   Whatever it is they prefer,  life drawing  can play a huge part in the development of many artistic skills - skills that can give a piece of art extra depth in a very subtle way.

Mitchell Brannan

Teacher - VCE Studio Art

The Life Drawing cocurricular study provides a rare and challenging opportunity for BSC VCE Studio Art students.  Even if an artist is not primarily interested in painting the human body, life drawing is still encouraged.

The human body is a very complex form. By challenging themselves to draw its likeness, students can learn a variety of artistic techniques as well as the skill to identify  and pursue ways to communicate  movement and emotion through their work.
