Karen Harris

Principal

Term 2 has provided many opportunities for students to demonstrate their learning and to participate actively both in school and beyond.   Term 2 has also provided opportunities for staff to learn together.

Work Experience

Well done to all the Year 10 students who completed their Work Experience placements in May, representing themselves and our school so well.  These are valuable learning experiences that aid students in making their VCE or VCAL choices for 2020.  Term 3 will see a focus on Subject Selections by students and particularly VTAC selections for Year 12 students.  We look forward to seeing many of our parents/carers at information sessions and counselling appointments in Term 3.

Continuous Reporting

We hope the introduction of Continuous Reporting this year has enabled parents/carers to receive timely feedback on their child’s progress and advice on the ways in which students can improve their understanding.  We encourage all parents/carers to review Learning Tasks through Compass on a regular basis.  Parents/carers will receive an End of Semester 1 report which collates the Learning Task comments and levels of achievements into one format.  Victorian Curriculum levels will also be indicated on this report for students in Years 7 to 10.

GAT & Exams

Our Year 10 and Year 11 students have completed their mid-year examinations and supervising teachers have reported that student conduct was excellent throughout the examination period.   Students studying a Unit 3 and 4 subject have also completed the General Achievement Test (GAT).

Recognition & acknowledgment

I am delighted at how many students are receiving positive comments through Compass as recognition for their commitment to our school values of Excellence, Persistence, Teamwork, Respect, Responsibility and Achievement.  Teachers and support staff have recognised a wide range of achievements over this term and the recognition is well deserved.   Further celebration of our school values will take place at our school assembly which is now regularly timetabled at the end of term.

Parents can view positive comments for their child in Compass under 'Chronicle'.
