SCHOOL LACROSSE

I had the pleasure of watching the Year 7 Girls Lacrosse team play in their final match at Caulfield Park last weekend. It was wonderful to watch their enthusiasm and team work, endeavour and improved skill. This was a great example of another successful community link the school has forged. Under the wonderful guidance of coach Ben Stevens, the McKinnon girls have been regularly training on a Thursday night on the school oval since May. The school formed its first Lacrosse team in partnership with Caulfield Lacrosse, who have provided the sticks, uniform and training. The final match for the season was so entertaining and rewarding. It is a credit to Ben, the girls and their parents. A fantastic pathway has been formed and many of the girls are now trialling for representative teams.

Well done to all and good luck for the next season.

SQUASH STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS

Over 3 days, on the 13-15 August saw the State School Squash Finals. Our Year 8 Boys and Girls came 7th and 3rd respectively, the Senior Girls achieved a 3rd, the Intermediate Boys came 3rd and 7th.

A massive congratulations goes to our Intermediate Girls team who are the new State Champions. Breanna Whitehead, Eliza Fischer, Michelle Pits and Sasha Limpyer played a near flawless day only losing one rubber. Special mention goes to Paris and Elle Dagres who played in the regional qualifiers.

Thank you to my fellow coaches, Daniel Farthing, and Tim Blackwood
