LIBRARY

BOOK WEEK: 19th – 25th AUGUST

On Monday, award winning author, Simon Higgins, visited our Book Club and Year 7 students. Simon spoke about his passion for Japanese and Chinese culture and how he developed storylines interweaving Asian themes into his young adult novels. As a martial arts expert, he also brought with him a sword which had been especially created for him. The students enjoyed his martial arts demonstration and the sound of the sword ‘singing’ as it cut through the air. Several students were lucky to win a door prize of Simon’s recent novel, ‘Tomodachi: The Edge of the World’

‘Very entertaining and interesting’

‘He was very funny and interesting and I liked his katana’

On Wednesday, Mandy Ord, celebrated graphic artist and graphic novelist, spoke to all of Year 8 students. She entertained the students with her drawing skills and stories of how she develops her ideas. Several students were lucky enough to win copies of her drawings as lucky door prizes.
