PRINCIPAL’S REPORT

VCE INFORMATION NIGHT
Our VCE Night was very well attended and I thank parents, students, representatives from various Institutions and our VCE teachers who came along to respond to student questions and give details of the various subjects and courses on offer. Thorough research enables the best decision to be made by students.
Students’ final course submissions for 2014 were due last week.
VTAC
Once again it is VTAC application time for our Year 12’s!
It was a pleasure to see so many Year 12 parents attend the VTAC Information Night last Thursday.
Mr Mest, Mr Noble and the Student Managers, Ms Felmingham and Mr Hudd, presented a very thorough talk on the application process. Key dates were given and again it is very important to know and understand what is required so that assistance can be given to each student.
I wish our Year 12’s all the best with their selections of tertiary courses for 2014.
SCIENCE WEEK
Science was celebrated last week with tremendous activities, enthusiasm and challenging problems.
I congratulate Mrs Sweeney and all the Science Faculty staff who continue to inspire and create a love of learning in science. Enthusiastic participation was evident in all the activities including survivor, the rocket launch and inspirational guest speakers.
WINTER CONCERT
Our Annual Winter Concert is to be held at Robert Blackwood Hall on Tuesday 27 August. Rehearsals are well and truly under way. This is always an impressive occasion and a highlight on the school calendar!
I encourage parents, grandparents and friends to attend and celebrate together the showcase of musical talent of our students. Tickets are on sale via a link on the McKinnon Secondary College website: www.mckinnonsc.vic.edu.au
