Year 12 Geography

Year 12 Geography “Amazing Race”

On Tuesday August 7 2018, the Year 12 Geography students participated in the inaugural St Norbert College Geography Amazing Race. Just like the real thing students in teams raced to various parts of the CBD. At each location, students conducted fieldwork activities and saw first-hand the different urban processes and problems occurring along with the planning solutions to address them.

The second part of the day saw students travel to Cockburn Central, a transit-orientated development to observe how locating high density residential and commercial functions near train stations can address the problems of urban sprawl and traffic congestion in our city.

The students had an enjoyable day, as they were able to put theory learned in class into practice. Congratulations to Kathlynn Loreto, Priyanka Tamang, Kryztal Nasuli and Gracelyn Gacutno for finishing the race first and to Linda Yeoh, Liam Trevena and Amy Murphy for gaining the highest marks on the day. Special thanks go to Ms Hyland for assistance with the excursion.
