In the last Newsletter of 2018 I said there were some exciting new changes planned for your school library, and by now I hope you have all had an opportunity to come into the library to see for yourself. The wall has been knocked down and replaced by a beautiful wall of glass. This has opened up the entire office area and library, to make it an open, spacious area.
There have been a few changes behind the scenes too, which will give all the students a greater range of books to borrow with new titles being added regularly. If anyone has a request for a certain book, either come and see me or send me an email via Compass.
Opening hours
Apart from your weekly library lesson time, the library will also be open for borrowing, every morning from 8.45am to 9.00am Monday to Friday. Please note that this is not for just spending time in the library, but for borrowing a book, with your library bag.
The library will also be open at Lunchtime on Wednesdays and Fridays, for Years 3 to 6 from 1pm to 1.45pm. Students can come in to the library to read, relax, play chess or other board games, do colouring in or play cards.
Please remember that all students from Prep to Year 6 must have a library bag to be able to bring a book home. This can be any kind of bag, as the purpose is to protect the book and allow students to have a storage place for the books at home, which will minimise the chance of losing a book.
I have included some facts on the benefit of reading to your children. This is the single most important thing you can do, to help your children grow up with a love for reading and a passion for learning.
Happy reading everyone.
