Around The Primary

Dear Parents

Many thanks to all the families who came along to our annual Family Picnic – it was fun and a great opportunity for our children and families to simply relax and enjoy each other’s company. It was hopefully also a good way for new families to connect and feel welcomed. Thank you to those who extended warm hospitality and reached out to our new families – this was very much appreciated.

A special thank you to Ric Del Pizzo for getting the evening together and also to the amazing team behind the scenes for all their hard work - top effort!

It takes many hands, hearts and a shared vision and purpose to build a community and our Family Picnic exemplified this beautifully.  This event grows every year and we look forward to continuing the tradition in 2020.

To celebrate the beginning of Lent, our Ash Wednesday Mass will take place at 9.15am next Wednesday 6 March. This Mass is kindly being prepared by Miss Cooney and the students from 3G. All parents are welcome to attend and it would be wonderful to see you wearing your new badges too.

May the long week-end ahead be a wonderful one for you and your family!

Kind regards,

Antoinette De Pinto

Caritas 2019

We all know that money does not grow on trees, but at John XXIII College we like to try to achieve the impossible, and to do so we need your help!

During the six weeks of Lent each class will be asked to collect coins for Caritas. These coins will be used to ‘fertilise’ our Caritas Money Tree. A small ‘fertiliser’ bag will be kept in each classroom ready to be filled with coins. Every Friday the students will count the money and write the amount they have collected on a green leaf. Students will deliver the money to the front office and place in our wheelbarrow and then add a ‘leaf’ to our money tree. A new fertiliser bag will then go back to the classroom to be filled again. It will be great to watch our money tree fill with leaves and grow and to see the money raised by each class.

We need your help! It is hoped all families can fill a coin bag during Lent.  Any loose change can be added to your child’s coin bag, even relatives might like to contribute to this fundraising project.  Please remind your child/children to place the money they have collected into their classroom fertiliser bag to help our money tree to grow.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Kind regards

Kylie Allen

Assistant Principal

Let's be good neighbours

We need to respect our neighbours, as parking, even if for five minutes during morning or afternoon pick-up is causing inconvenience resulting in hospital staff being unable to access their parking, and or visitors having no access to parking.

Please use the John XXIII College carparks only.

Should this issue continue, the hospital will be arranging for the Ranger to monitor and issue fines.
