World Kindness Day

Tomorrow is World Kindness Day. World kindness day is a global day that promotes the importance of being kind to each other to yourself and to the world. You don’t need me to tell you that the last two years have been pretty horrible to say the least. It started with the bushfires, and then COVID19 arrived. We have all been doing our best to cope with the many changes and restrictions that have come about in response to the worldwide pandemic. This has brought out the best and the worst in people. Our staff has worked extremely hard to try and keep teaching and support programs going through remote learning and transitioning back and forth to school. I can appreciate it has been challenging for many people and anxiety levels can be quite high with all of the change being imposed upon us -whether it be mask or vaccination requirements in many venues.  I can assure you are not alone in dealing with these challenges.

When the department asks that we wear masks indoors at school or excursion venues require students to be fully vaccinated these are not decisions we make or can control so I ask that parents and carers don’t take it out on staff here at school. We understand people have different beliefs around how the pandemic should be handled but we are doing our best for your children and really appreciate it if you don’t email staff with your views because it doesn’t make our job any easier and we can’t change what we are being required to do in the interest of safety.

I want to thank all of the parents, carers and students who have engaged positively with staff and encourage everyone to continue to stay calm and respectful.  Imagine if every Australian performed an act of kindness tomorrow…
