VCE Psychology 2022

Unit 1 Psychology

Students in Unit 1 Psychology have been busy learning about the human nervous system. One of the tasks they completed was a drawing of an outline of a classmate onto butchers’ paper onto which they labelled the correct terms and examples of how the nervous system works. Did you know that the sympathetic nervous system is activated when you are nervous, which is why when you present a speech in front of the class you may find your heart rate may rise, you might have a dry mouth, and you suddenly do not feel very hungry at all! Luckily, once your speech is over and you sit down, your parasympathetic nervous system kicks into gear and restores your bodily functions to normal (‘homeostasis’) once again. Phew!
