Principal's Notes

Week 3

Dear Parents and Friends,

Welcome to another edition of our newsletter, this term is just flying! We have received some fantastic feedback from our families with our new format of the newsletter. We hope you continue to enjoy our newsletter as it is really an opportunity to showcase the fabulous students that we have here at Cavendish Primary School.

Picnic Sports

We have begun our preparations for our annual Picnic Sports with whole school practises for our students. Our senior students are helping coach our new Foundation students in learning Tunnel ball and the Bounce Ball relays.  It is amazing to watch the growth and development of our students since I begun teaching here at Cavendish.  Our current senior students were the learners and now they are the teachers.

Farewell Black family

Today is the last day of school at Cavendish for Hunter Black (Year 1 ) and Dakoda Black (Foundation). Their family is relocating to Heywood and we wish them all the best for their new school and move.  Best wishes to Stacey and Dylan.

Professional Development

This week Miss Thompson began her Sounds Write course. This course includes intensive training in phonics teaching to teachers over four full days and many after school hours completing the supporting study.  This will help Miss Thompson develop her skills in teaching spelling and allow her to continue with the students development from their early years phonics/sounds learning. Mrs Murray will be teaching Miss Thompson's class while she is completing her course for the next three Wednesdays.

I am also studying this year and completing a course through The Victorian Academy of Teaching and Leadership for new Principals. This course goes over 8 months and includes online modules, peer learning groups and mentoring.

Have a lovely weekend,

Lisa Ferrier
