P&F News

We have had an exciting start to our 2022 P&F calendar.  We kicked-off with Prep Welcome Night at The Parlour.  22 of our 34 Prep parents were able to attend the function in the end.  By all accounts everyone had a lovely evening. A Big Thank You Sam Tudor for arranging this.

Our first School Maintenance Working Bee for the year was arranged for Saturday 29 January.  We had a great response with 27 helpers including Simon Collis himself.  With so many helping hands we were able to achieve a lot more that what we originally set out to do.  Sacred Heart definitely received some well-deserved TLC.  Thanks to Caroline Touhey for sourcing and changing over our basketball nets. Thanks to Tony Begg for arranging and also to the Dads Club for coming on board.

The P&F hosted a morning tea on Monday 31 January for all the new Prep parents.  It was really lovely to see our new little preppies start school and to be able to welcome Prep parents with a cuppa. We would like to take the opportunity to welcome the 2022 Preps once again!

Our first P&F Meeting for the year was held on 7 February.  We had an opportunity to welcome all our new committee members as well as our new Principal – Simon Collis. It was an evening where we were able to share many ideas and dreams for our school.  Thanks to all those that attended. We look forward to working with you all in 2022.

Minutes and respective reports from our meeting will be sent out in due course.

Our year level co-ordinators will reach out from time to time for assistance. We really encourage you all as a community to lend a helping hand when you can. Many hands make light work!

Outreach Program - Family support available

Sacred Heart offers an Outreach Program that provides support for families within our school community when in need of assistance.  This might include times such as when family members are unwell, ongoing illness is experienced within the family, during times of bereavement, or when welcoming the arrival of a new baby.

Support includes provision of meals as needed, along with help with transporting children to or from school.

This group works on an anonymity policy and details of individual circumstances are not relayed to volunteer helpers. We just work off the basis that someone needs help.

Please do not hesitate to be in touch with Cathie Beven on 0416 075 046, should you wish to receive support from the outreach program, or know of a family who could use a helping hand.

DAD'S CLUB NEWS

The Dad’s Club kicked off last Friday night with ripping weather and around 50 to 60 dads in the annual bowls night at Sandy Bowls Club Tulip Street.  The night was run magnificently by bowls night maestro Ant McCabe and Liam Molony who managed an ingenious round robin teams contest.  In the end it was won by Paul Riddex and Adam Hogan. Prizes were supply by Simon Trail’s Wine Envy.  Paul then took the contest to a new high winning the long bowl.

Many thanks to all the dads who got to the school clean up and working bee a few weeks ago.  The camping trip has been put back to November and more news on events will be provided in the newsletter in the near future.
