Liturgy News

On Friday 10th December, we celebrated our End of Year mass for 2021. While this year has again presented many challenges it has also provided us with opportunities to rethink how we do different things in our lives. With respect to our school masses, current COVID protocols specified that we could celebrate a whole school mass provided that the mass was conducted outdoors - so we decided this was one challenge worth exploring!

Despite a slight breeze, sitting under our covered area facing the Mary statue created a serene and beautiful sacred space for our end of year mass.

My sincere thank goes to Father Jomer who celebrated this mass assisted by Seminarian

Michael Perry; to our readers, leaving teacher - Mr Gibbs, leaders - Lexi Salvestro, Nicholas Sartor, Claudia Torresan and Jayden Skirving and faith prefect - Karoua Kaibwa; the extraordinary ministers - Mr Blanco, Mrs Blanco and Mr LeBrocque and to our altar servers Alessandro Bonotto and Christian Northeast. Thank you also to the Year 11 Music class who provided us with

Christmas carols to get us into our festive season and especially to Mr Segrave and Miss Comarin who not only prepared the Music class but worked hard Friday morning to get our sound system up and running for a 9:30am start!

As this is my final newsletter article as Liturgy Coordinator I would like to offer my sincere thanks to everyone including Leadership, Staff, Students and Parents of Marian Catholic College, for the support and encouragement provided to me over the last 7 years. I must make mention of a few special people who throughout the years have assisted me to make each and every liturgy so special - to Matthew Segrave -  who has spent many hours setting up the music equipment and rehearsing to ensure our music was just right; and Simon Aventi and Warren Bock - the maintenance men who have assisted with setting up masses and graduations and made valuable items that have been used extensively for liturgical celebrations.

Finally, I wish Gabriel Abdala all the very best as he takes over with the organisation of liturgies within the Leader of Mission role. Together with Domenica Polimeni, the Leader of Religious Education, I know that they will continue to inspire students to evangelise the good news within our College and the wider community.

Wishing everyone a blessed and holy Christmas season.
