Principal News

It matters not who or what you are,

all people can behold the Christmas Star.

For the Star that shone is shining still

in the hearts of everyone,

 of peace and goodwill.

Create in me a pure heart, O God,

and renew a steadfast spirit within me.

Do not cast me from your presence

Or take your Holy Spirit from me.

           Psalm 51:10-1

Today trim your life with inner beauty. The Star shines for one and all.

Dear Parents, Students and Friends,

During the students’ final week at the College a number of significant Awards ceremonies were held. Due to Covid restrictions there were six separate awards assemblies! The worthy recipients are listed below, whilst all events were livestreamed and have been recorded on our Facebook site for all to view. I mentioned in my address that twenty-seven percent of students received a Principal’s Award for Academic Achievement. This is a wonderful outcome for approximately 170 students.

Success doesn’t come without hard work and commitment to studies. Putting learning first is our priority and this result also reflects the talented and dedicated teachers who are proud of everyone and I thank them for their hard work.

Our Class of 2021had a wonderful graduation dinner last Saturday at the Exies Club. Fortunately, parents were able to join with the graduands and staff. It was a beautiful evening and great way to farewell a wonderful group of students.

They now have a well-earned break and will receive their HSC results and ATAR scores on the 24th January. It has been a difficult year for them to maintain their focus with the constant interruptions due to Covid and we wish them well as they journey into the next stage of their lives.

There are many staff leaving us this year. On behalf of the community, I wish to thank the following staff for their service to the school and wish them every success in the future.

Mr Gibbs, Mr Lambert, Ms Maunder, Mrs Farrugia, Ms Ellis, Ms De Paoli

Mr Darien Le Cornu, Ms Comarin, Ms Tappi, Ms Taylor and Ms Olsen.

This Sunday 19 December, the Sacred Heart Parish is holding their Centenary Celebration! The main events take place with the 10:30 mass, followed by processions, blessings and lunch at 1pm. Tickets for the lunch are through the Parish Office.

Finally, my thanks to everyone in our community as we close the school year. It has certainly been one we never will forget and whilst the Covid-19 challenges are still with us, we have learnt to live with the changes and developed some new ways to learn and grow.

May your Christmas break be blessed with the joy of being with loved ones and the Lord keep everyone safe until we see each other again next year. Senior and Year 7 students commence on Tuesday, February 1, whilst Years 8-10 commence on Wednesday February 2 and the uniform shop will be open from January 24-28 (except 26 Jan.) 8.30-4pm.

Peace and best wishes

Alan Le Brocque
