News from Matt Di Salvo

Acting Head of Sport

JSS

The JSS competition has resumed in Term 4 with Saints taking on St Andrew’s in week 2. Looking to improve on our steady start to the season, our teams were ready to hit the ground running leading into the finals. In our best round yet, Saints secured wins in all five fixtures, cruising to dominant victories. The JSS AFL team continued their unbeaten run with a dominant 57-7 victory, basketball won another one-point thriller 58-57, football 10- 0, touch 11-1 and volleyball 2-0. The teams had a great start to the term and are looking to build momentum in the charge to the finals.

Senior Volleyball

Saints senior volleyball team organised an exhibition match against Cairns High on Friday of week 1. A large crowd were treated to some high-level volleyball, showing the rapid development of the sport in the region. Saints lost the match, ending their undefeated 2022 campaign, but played to an exceptional standard and could try out combinations for the 2023 season. Thanks to Johle Vincent for his work organising the match.
