Flourishing in 2023

FUN IN 5/6!

We have had a wonderful start to the term with many exciting learning opportunities in our space. We have many students preparing for the whole school production this term which we are looking forward to. In Mathematics we have focused on the topic of ‘Fractions’ which has had a focus on real life problem solving skills and applying students’ knowledge of fractions to cooking and sharing experiences that they face daily. We learnt about procedural writing and the writing features in procedural texts, such as using verbs. Our students connected the two learning focuses when making pancakes. We would like to thank Matt Henke (Lachy’s Dad) and Zoe Pattison (Charlotte’s Mum) for their assistance with our cooking experience. Students had to measure, using fractions and write the recipe. Below are some pictures!

In Faith-Based Inquiry we have been learning about geography and in particular are currently learning about Asian countries.

Our Year 6 students also went to the Padua performance, ‘Mamma Mia’ at Padua Mornington. We took our new community bus, Bluey! We thoroughly enjoyed the performance, below are some comments about what our students thought!
