Major Performing Arts Events – Term 3
In Week 7, it is Book Week. A parade has been planned for Thursday, 24th August. As a special presentation, students have been practicing ‘The Charleston’ to music from the movie, ‘The Jungle Book’.
Two students from every class in years 1 to 6, will be selected to perform at the parade. We have been rehearsing with glitter hats, canes and bow ties. (Very exciting!)
Here’s James and 6K at their first attempt: -

Start Up Strings * Corelli Strings * Orchestra * Choir

*Sound Checks before the concert.
A note has been sent home to performers who will be participating in this prestigious annual event. Our amazing string groups will be performing along with the Junior Strings of Banyule, and the IPS Choir.
This is a question that is asked often.

Choir only happens as a special activity leading up to the Night of Music, and occasionally, end of year concerts. It is open to all students from years 3 to 6. The repertoire is taught during Music lesson times, and at present, things are progressing beautifully. The students have learned all the repertoire and just need to polish up the final product.
Those who are wishing to participate should have received a note this week. I will hold one or two lunch time rehearsals to organise standing positions before the concert. If you did not get a note – I have pasted it below.
This is the only concert we hold in the luxurious IGGS Performing Arts Centre. Every year it is a sell-out and every performer and audience member thoroughly enjoy the experience.
Start Up Strings: Free dress – smart casual.
Orchestra, Corelli Strings & Choir: Long sleeve white shirt, Black pants, Black footwear.

I was so pleased to hear that families from school took the opportunity to go to ‘Peter & the Wolf’ last weekend.
One student, Tennyson from 3O, even had a turn at conducting the Heidelberg Symphony! Well done, Tenny! Thank you to his mum for this short video: -

Have a great week!

Peter and the Wolf
Ivanhoe Primary has a enjoyed a long association with the Heidelberg Symphony Orchestra (HSO). Every year, the HSO perform Prokofieff’s, ‘Peter and the Wolf’ as a special event for children and families. It’s a delightful concert that everyone loves. If you go along, be sure to look out for our Strings teachers and old scholars.

Enjoy your week.
See you at the disco!
