Grade 3/4 News

Reminders 

• Homework - Week 5: Reading Diary and TT Rockstars (30 mins) 
• Homework - Week 6: Reading Diary and Big Talk Homework
• Home Reading Diaries must be checked each night and come to school Friday with a parent signature. Students will need to read a minimum of 20 minutes for 4 nights each week.
• Scienceworks Excursion - Week 6: Monday, 14th August

TT Rockstars

TT Rockstars is now up and running and will become part of our homework rotation as of Week 5. A quick reminder that students will need to complete 30 minutes of TT Rockstars each fortnight. Please see your child's teacher if you have any questions!

Scienceworks Excursion - Mon, 14th August (Week 6)

Our excursion to Scienceworks is soon approaching. Please provide permission and return medical forms as soon as possible if you would like your child to attend. Thankyou for your help with this!

Learning in Weeks 5 & 6 

Mathematics: This fortnight, students will continue to explore 'Money' in Fluid Groups where they will focus on concepts such as recognising Australian money, adding and subtracting with money, budgeting, etc. During Applied Maths, we will look at 'Volume'. Students will then use what they have learned to design a swimming pool!

Writing & Reading: In Writing, students will work through the Writer's Process of 'Planning, Drafting, Revising, Editing, Publishing' with any text type of their choice. In Reading, we will continue to participate in reading groups, independent conferences and whole group reading activities using a range of different texts. We have also started up a weekly Library session which has been great so far!

Topic: This fortnight, students will be conducting experiments with elasticity. We will also begin building our balloon-powered cars! Each student has worked out the materials they will need to bring along to help build their team's car.
