We are learning to explore how ramps work. A ramp is an example of an inclined plane. Using an inclined plane makes it easier to move an object. 


VOCABULARY

Ramp: A ramp is a surface with one end higher than the other. 

Wedge: A wedge is a simple machine that consists of two inclined planes situated back-to-back.

Incline plane: An inclined plane is a ramp that assists moving heavy objects up and down heights. 


ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

Students can make their own simple machine using items around the house. Using dominoes, toys, books  or cardboard, line your items up and see if you can have them all fall over by only pushing one of them.
