Year 3/4 Excursion to Melbourne Zoo

Year 3/4 students are learning about animal enrichment - providing animals in captivity with stimulation to encourage natural behaviours, which assists to improve their or maintain their physical and mental health.

On Tuesday 25th July they visited the Melbourne Zoo to see animal enrichment in action.

Here is what some students had to say about the excursion:

Ivan, Year 3

I really enjoyed seeing the wombats because I’ve never seen one in real life before, only in story books!

David, Year 3

I can’t believe I saw a python! I wanted to see them the most because I like snakes and this one was venomous.

Alexa, Year 4

Meerkats were the highlight of the zoo excursion because it was awesome to see them use their senses playing with their enrichment items.

Stella, Year 4

My favourite part of the day was seeing the red pandas because I noticed they had lots of enticement items such as an obstacle ropes course.

Hawa, Year 3

I liked seeing the lemurs the most because they were cute and I liked their enclosure the best! It is similar to their real natural habitat.
