NAPLAN
The National Assessment Program - Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) has introduced a new set of proficiency levels for 2023. These levels are designed to better understand your child’s performance and progress in key subject areas. The new proficiency levels offer a more detailed assessment, allowing for better identification of your child’s strengths and areas for improvement.
Proficiency Standards
The NAPLAN proficiency standards include four levels for each assessment at each year level:
- Exceeding: the student’s result exceeds expectations at the time of testing
- Strong: the student’s result meets challenging, but reasonable expectations at the time of testing.
- Developing: the student’s result indicates that they are working towards the expectations
- Needs additional support: the student’s result indicates that they are not achieving the learning outcomes expected at the time of testing. They are likely to need additional support to progress.
Introducing these new proficiency levels aims to provide a more accurate and informative assessment of your child’s academic abilities. It allows for a more detailed understanding of their progress and helps educators to tailor their teaching strategies to meet individual needs.
Well done to students in Years 3 and 5 for achieving excellent NAPLAN results.
