Unit of Study: Makers, Shakers & Breakers

 

Brief Description: Makers, Shakers & Breakers focuses on the people, ideas and movements that have shaped the world, for better or worse, in the 20th Century. We will focus on the Anti-Apartheid Movement in South Africa, as well as different movements in Australia such as Feminism, Environmentalism, and the Peace Movements. 

 

Scaffolding Learning

At the conclusion of this unit of study students will have: 

 

An understanding of key knowledge

  • Changing social, cultural, historical, economic, environmental, political and technological conditions on a major global influence in Australia (VCHHK159)
  • The perspectives of people and different historical interpretations and debates from the period (VCHHK160)
  • Effects of significant post-World War II world events and developments on one major global influence that shaped change in Australian society (VCHHK157)
  • Explain how Australia’s international legal obligations shape Australian law and government policies, including in relation to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples (VCCCL032)
