Nude Food Challenge

The Health and Well Being Working Party are looking to raise awareness of the importance of reducing waste within the school environment and the community. To do this they would like to hold a NUDE FOOD CHALLENGE during the week Monday 14 – Friday 18 August.

What does this involve? The Health and Wellbeing Working party has collected data about how much excess packaging is thrown away during recess times that contributes to landfill. You’d be surprised at the results! The aim is to reduce this dramatically through the NUDE FOOD CHALLENGE. During the challenge week we are asking that students only bring NUDE food to school and use reusable containers so… NO WRAPPERS!! Teachers will then record the results during this week (by counting the wrappers).

Let’s see if we can all make a difference!

IDEAS TO HELP YOU…

  • Buy bulk instead of single serve foods.
  • Dig out those reusable containers and start packing them with healthy foods.
  • Biscuits and cheese in a reusable container.
  • Homemade muesli bar in reusable container.
  • Yoghurt bought in bulk and decanted into a reusable container.
  • Sandwich in a reusable container (wrapped in beeswax wrap, alfoil, or paper bag. Alfoil can be rolled into a ball and recycled, paper bags can be composted with food scraps).
