Year 11/12

Our VCE and VCAL students have once again been on a roller-coaster, as well as the parents, carers, families and teachers. 2021 has been a year like no other. I would like to commend and congratulate our students on their dedicated approach to their learning and studies during this exceptionally challenging time. All VCE and VCAL students have maintained high levels of engagement throughout this extended period of online learning. Also to sincerely thank our teachers and support staff  for their hard work and dedication in providing a continuity of learning for our Senior School students. Staff have worked vigorously providing engaging online live lessons.   Please be assured that we will do everything possible to support all students through this difficult time.

Year 11 News

Well done to all the Year 11 students this term! With all the challenges faced, you have supported each other every step of the way, remained positive and motivated. We never thought we would be in this position for so long so we thank you so much for dealing with all the ups and downs this term and hopefully see you early next term. Please make sure you rest up in the holidays, catch up with any outstanding work and be ready for whatever Term 4 throws at you!

TERM 4 KEY DATES

Northern Territory Trip

Unfortunately the Northern Territory Camp has been cancelled. Hopefully we can schedule the trip for 2022, fingers crossed. 

Presentation Ball

The CESC 2021 Presentation Ball has possibly been rescheduled to November. Dance rehearsals have been cancelled however hopefully we may be able to get some dance rehearsals in prior to that date, pending covid restrictions.

Well done to all our Y11 VCAL students for putting in such an amazing effort in such a difficult term. You have all shown such determination and resilience and we are very proud of you all. We especially want to congratulate our VCAL Remote Learning Superstars!

VCAL Remote Learning Superstars

The following students were selected by their teachers for demonstrating outstanding work ethic, attitude and dedication to their studies throughout this remote learning period.

Year 12 

We have made a few adjustments to the year 12 timeline to try and maximise face to face teaching in term 4. This will allow for our VCE students to be better prepared for their exams and for our VCAL students to be given more time to complete their outcomes.

Unfortunately, we still do not know if our term 4 classes will run remotely or onsite. Either way we will make the most of the situation we are in. Currently we are planning to have the final year 12 assembly on Friday Oct 22nd meaning no classes will run on this day.

YEAR 12 VCE

September Holiday Exams 17th – 24th September 2022

Due to the extension of the current restrictions, we are no longer permitted to run Year 12 Holiday Exams onsite during the September school holidays. All exams will run remotely as per the exam schedule attached. Exams will be supervised by teachers online. Holiday exams are compulsory, we expect that all Year 12 students make the most of this opportunity in their final preparation for the end of year exams.

The advantages of undertaking practice exams include:

• providing opportunities for our students to maximise their success/results
• maximising class revision time in Term 4 where teachers can address areas of concern in student performance and exam technique
• providing opportunities for students to practice exam techniques.
• ensuring students utilise their September holidays for revision

 Exam Return

On Friday 24th September all Year 12 students are required to return their completed exams to the red foyer. The college will be open between 11 – 2pm. As above, the same Covid safe guideline will apply.

Teachers will mark the exams over the holidays and provide feedback at the start of Term 4.

Revision lectures

Universities are offering revision sessions/lectures remotely over the term 3 holidays to help students prepare for their VCAA examination. Information regarding these lectures have been given out during home group. Subject teachers are also giving students information on these lectures.We encourage students to attend these sessions.

 Congratulations year 12s!

 Doing year 12 is hard work! Doing it during a pandemic is even harder! You have been tested and pushed to your limits yet you are still continuing to amaze us with your determination, hard work, and commitment.

Your SACs are done! And before you know it you’ll be finished with your exams too. So keep going, you’ve got this and we are all here to support you.

The VCAL team are incredibly proud of the determination and resilience shown by this group of Y12s. You have been faced yet again with an extended period of remote learning and still so many of you have managed to successfully complete units and get fully signed off going into the Term 3 break. We still have 4 weeks next term to finish all outcomes and we know you can all do it. We want to see each and every one of you achieve your VCAL Certificate. Hopefully we see you back onsite next term so we can get the job done and also celebrate your amazing success and achievements.
