From the Principal

Meagan Cook

Wow, what a term!

Certainly not the "first term" that I had hoped for but a great one none the less! I want to personally thank everyone that I have had the opportunity to work with/meet or chat to, I have felt very welcomed into the College community.

Thank you for supporting your children to maintain their engagement in learning throughout the term. There is no doubt that remote learning presents us with many challenges and we could not do this without your support.

I am confident that you would all join me in thanking the staff at Cranbourne East Secondary College, for working  tirelessly throughout the term to ensure your children's well-being and learning needs are being met.

The end of term assembly highlighted the many wonderful things that have continued to happen within our community and it was fantastic to see so many students being acknowledged for their contributions and achievements.

I was particularly impressed with the way our community came together in recognition/celebration/acknowledgement of RUOK? DAY. The focus on gratitude is one that sits well with my personal values and beliefs. If you haven't yet seen the assembly you can access it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8efIHHOsco

Victorian Education Excellence Awards

In addition to the great achievements of our students I also want to acknowledge that CESC has been announced as a finalist, in the category of Outstanding School Improvement, in the 2021 Victorian Education Excellence Awards.

This is an incredible achievement. I want to acknowledge, not only the team that we’re nominated to represent the school, but also the contribution that all staff (past and present) have made to improving outcomes for students at CESC.

In particular, I want to acknowledge the contribution of Mandee Strickland. Whilst not nominated as a member of the team, I am sure you will all join me in congratulating and thanking her for her leadership of school improvement during her time as Principal.

Being a finalist is a fantastic achievement in itself and now our collective fingers and toes are crossed for the final announcement in October.

Farewell to Ms Linda Buckeridge

I want to congratulate Linda Buckeridge, who just yesterday, was appointed as the substantive Principal of Hillsmeade Primary School.  She will take up this role in Term 4.

I have only worked with Linda for a short time, however, it is clear to me that this is our loss and Hillsmeade’s gain.

Linda has certainly left her mark on Cranbourne East Secondary College. She has built strong collaborative relationships with all stakeholders in our community and developed those around her.

Linda shows incredible passion and determination when it comes to ensuring that all students are afforded the best opportunities within our school and I look forward to seeing how this translates into her new role.

When the timing is right we will come together to acknowledge and celebrate Linda’s contribution to CESC.

I am sure you will all join me in congratulating Linda and wishing her all the best in her new role.

TERM 4 PLANNING

At this stage, we don’t have any certainty about what the start of term 4 will look like. I will keep you updated throughout the holidays as information is provided to me. In the event that remote learning continues, so to will our on-site provision for students of essential workers and those deemed vulnerable.'

I wish everyone a safe a restful term break and look forward to term 4 and eventual return to on-site learning for all.

Kind regards,

Meagan Cook
