Mr Clarke has been awarded the Minister’s Award for Teaching Excellence:

  • highest of accolades within Public Education and is recognition of his dedication to the students of Merrylands High School (MHS) and the wider school community.
  • is an exceptional teacher and educational leader who selflessly serves young people through applying his knowledge, exemplary practice and commitment.
  • Throughout his 36 years at MHS, he has employed his remarkable skills to connect with all of his students.

  • Priority School Program Coordinator (2009-2010)
  • Harmony Day Group Coordinator (2009-2019)
  • MHS Sports Organiser (1990-2021)
  • CHS Prospect Zone President (2005-2020)
  • coordinating past senior biology camps (1992-1995)
  • leading the Science Faculty as relieving Head Teacher (2014)
  • conducting the Athletics Transition Program for local primary schools (2007-2014)
  • holding the position as Manager of the Sydney Regional Swimming Association (2000-2019)
  • mentor to beginning teachers pursuing a career through their tertiary education at MHS (2001-2021)

Australian Council for Health, Physical Education and Recreation

Congratulations to our very own Mr. MacNamara who was selected by an Australian Council for Health, Physical Education and Recreation panel and deemed a highly commended NSW Secondary [PDHPE] Teacher.  The ACHPER NSW [PD]HPE Awards recognise outstanding teachers making a difference to healthy and active lifestyles. 

Minister's Commendation Award for Excellence in Student Achievement 

Congratulations to our school Captain, Shanil Wijesurendra who has been highly commended by the NSW Minister of Education for Excellence in Student Achievement. Shanil sets outstanding examples for all our Merrylands High School students.
